چکیده

Background: Bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (BPOP), or Nora lesion, is a rare proliferative disease arising from the region of bones. Although BPOP’s pathogenesis still not certain, modern literature suggests it to be tumor-like lesion even benign neoplasm. Due extremely low incidence, this date studies on topic are limited case reports and few series. This narrative review aims resume BPOP provide an overview its natural history, morphologic characteristics prognostic horizon.Materials methods: A systematic research was done identify reporting patients who suffered between 1983 2021. We collected data regarding aetiologic pathogenetic theories, patients’ personal anamnesis, lesions’ location, clinical presentation, imaging features, pathological appearance, treatment prognosis. Results: identified 322 cases with mean age 34.3 years at moment diagnosis. There no gender difference. The most involved site hand, followed by foot. history trauma reported for 14.7% cases. 38.7% had pain. Literature defined typical radiographic microscopic patterns that characterize lesions. While fundamental orientate towards BPOP, histological evaluation mandatory get definitive To date, only reliable therapeutic option represented surgical resection. burdened risk recurrence accounts 37.4%.Conclusion: should considered during differential diagnosis lesions, especially in acral regions. Careful diagnostic evaluations necessary correct wide margins resection recommended minimize relatively high local recurrence.

The purpose of this study was to review the imaging and anatomopathologic findings and to discuss the main differential diagnosis of bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (BPOP) or Nora's lesion, a rare benign surface lesion of the bone. Histologically confirmed plain radiographs, ultrasound, CT and MRI images of four patients with BPOP were obtained and retrospectively reviewed. T...

Bizarre Parosteal Osteochondromatous Proliferation: a case report

Bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (BPOP) is a benign disorder within a spectrum of reactive proliferative processes of tubular bones, particularly the phalanges of the fingers or toes. The cause is unknown, and it is difficult to distinguish BPOP from a bone or soft tissue tumor. The radiographic and magnetic resonance imaging manifestations of reported BPOP cases are mostly no...

Bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation is a rare benign condition of locally aggressive and often recurrent osteochondromatous exostosis arising from the bony cortex. We present a case of a patient who presented with this lesion in her tibia, focusing on imaging findings. Because of the lack of information on the disease's natural history, etiology, and clinical course, a multidisci...
